Perfect Pizza Pinwheels: Easy Game Day Snack

  • Author: Saly
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 12 pinwheels (4-6 servings) 1x

Description

Crispy baked pizza pinwheels made with refrigerated dough, marinara, mozzarella, and pepperoni. Ready in just 20 minutes, these are the perfect easy game day snack or weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tube (14-16 oz / 400-450g) refrigerated pizza dough
  • 1 cup (240ml) marinara sauce
  • 1.5 cups (170g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup (115g) sliced pepperoni
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 cup (240ml) marinara sauce (for dipping)
  • Optional: 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Optional: 1/4 cup (25g) grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Let refrigerated pizza dough sit at room temperature for 10 minutes. Roll out on a lightly floured surface into a 12×16 inch rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Spread 1 cup marinara sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border. Sprinkle with mozzarella, pepperoni, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder.
  4. Starting from a long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Pinch the seam and ends to seal.
  5. Slice the log into 12 even pinwheels using a pizza cutter or sharp knife. Place cut-side up on the baking sheet, 1 inch apart.
  6. Brush tops lightly with olive oil.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown and cheese is bubbly.
  8. While pinwheels bake, warm the dipping marinara sauce in a saucepan or microwave.
  9. Serve hot pinwheels immediately with warm marinara for dipping.

Notes

Ensure the roll is tight and seams are pinched to prevent unraveling. Use thick marinara to avoid soggy bottoms. For make-ahead, assemble and refrigerate for up to 24 hours before baking. Leftovers can be frozen and reheated in the oven for best crispiness.
