Description
A creamy, 5-minute post-workout shake that tastes like dessert but provides high protein and complex carbs for recovery. It features vanilla protein, Greek yogurt, almond butter, and oats for a thick, milkshake-like consistency without the chalky aftertaste.
Ingredients
- 1 scoop (30g) vanilla protein powder (whey isolate or plant-based blend)
- 1/2 cup (120g) plain Greek yogurt (non-fat or 2%)
- 1 tablespoon (16g) natural almond butter
- 2 tablespoons (15g) old-fashioned oats
- 1 cup (240ml) milk (dairy or unsweetened almond/oat/soy milk)
- 1/2 medium banana, frozen and chunked
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon (10g) mini chocolate chips (optional)
- Pinch of salt
- 1/2 cup ice (if not using frozen banana)
Instructions
- Prep the banana by peeling, breaking into chunks, and freezing for at least 2 hours.
- Pour milk into the blender first to help blades spin freely.
- Add Greek yogurt and almond butter to the blender.
- Add protein powder, oats, vanilla extract, salt, and chocolate chips (if using).
- Blend on low speed to mix, then gradually increase to high speed.
- Blend for 45-60 seconds until completely smooth with no chunks.
- Taste and adjust sweetness or consistency by adding more milk, ice, or sweetener if needed.
- Pour into a glass and serve immediately.
Notes
For best texture, freeze banana chunks in advance. If using a standard blender, let oats sit in liquid for 10 minutes before blending to soften. This shake is best consumed fresh; if stored, it will thicken as oats absorb liquid. Shake well before drinking if stored.
