Description
These baked chicken wings feature a perfect balance of sweet heat from honey and sriracha, delivering a crispy, sticky, and spicy flavor without the grease of frying. Easy to prepare and a crowd-pleaser for game day or casual gatherings.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds chicken wings (split wings or drumettes)
- ¼ cup honey (85g)
- 3 tablespoons sriracha sauce (45ml)
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce (30ml)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (15ml)
- Optional: fresh chopped green onions or cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- Pat wings dry with paper towels to ensure crispy skin.
- Toss wings in a large bowl with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika until evenly coated.
- Place a wire rack on a foil-lined baking sheet (optional but recommended). Arrange wings in a single layer without touching.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake wings for 20 minutes.
- Flip wings using tongs and bake for another 20-25 minutes until golden and crispy and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- While wings bake, whisk together honey, sriracha, and soy sauce in a small bowl. Adjust heat or sweetness to taste.
- Remove wings from oven and immediately toss in the honey sriracha sauce until well coated.
- For extra sticky wings, place coated wings back on baking sheet and broil for 2-3 minutes, watching carefully to avoid burning.
- Garnish with fresh chopped green onions or cilantro and serve hot.
Notes
Patting wings dry is essential for crispy skin. Use a wire rack for better air circulation and crispiness. Broiling at the end caramelizes the sauce for extra stickiness. You can prep wings ahead and bake fresh when ready. For gluten-free, swap soy sauce with tamari. For vegan, substitute chicken wings with cauliflower florets and use vegan honey alternative or maple syrup.
