Game Day Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Poppers

  • Author: Saly
  • Total Time: 45-50 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings 1x

Description

These bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers are a quick, tasty, and addictive game day snack featuring a perfect balance of spicy jalapenos, creamy cheese filling, and smoky crispy bacon.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 medium fresh jalapenos
  • 8 oz (225g) full-fat cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup (115g) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 12 slices thick-cut bacon
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: ½ teaspoon smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Slice each jalapeno in half lengthwise and scoop out the seeds and ribs unless you want extra spicy poppers. Wear gloves if sensitive to spicy oils.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika if using. Mix until smooth and creamy.
  3. Fill each jalapeno half generously with the cream cheese mixture using a spoon or small scoop.
  4. Cut each bacon slice in half crosswise if needed. Wrap each stuffed jalapeno half with a bacon strip, securing ends underneath with toothpicks if necessary.
  5. Place wrapped poppers on a foil- or parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them apart.
  6. Bake in a preheated 400°F (200°C) oven for 20-25 minutes, flipping once halfway through with tongs, until bacon is browned and crispy and jalapenos are tender.
  7. Let poppers cool for a few minutes before serving warm.

Notes

Soften cream cheese before mixing for smooth filling. Use thick-cut bacon for best texture. Flip poppers halfway through baking for even crispiness. Prep ahead and refrigerate before baking. Remove toothpicks before serving. Do not freeze as jalapenos get mushy and bacon loses crispness.
