Description
A simple, fast, and budget-friendly homemade version of a creamy iced caramel macchiato that tastes indulgent yet feels like home.
Ingredients
- Whole Milk (1 cup)
- Heavy Cream (1/2 cup)
- Vanilla Extract (1 teaspoon)
- Brown Sugar (1/2 cup)
- Water (1/4 cup)
- Salt (a pinch)
- Espresso (2 shots)
- Iced Coffee (1 cup)
- Caramel Sauce (2 tablespoons)
- Whipped Cream (optional)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine sugar, water, and salt over medium heat. Stir constantly until the sugar dissolves, then stop stirring and let it boil without moving until it turns golden brown and smells amazing. Remove from heat immediately and pour into a small bowl to cool slightly before using.
- Fill your serving glass with ice cubes to keep the drink cold and dilute it just right.
- Pour the whole milk and heavy cream into the blender. Add the vanilla extract and blend until smooth until the mixture is thick and creamy.
- Slowly pour the espresso into the blended milk mixture. Stir gently to combine so the coffee floats on top, creating that classic macchiato look.
- Slowly pour the caramel sauce over the top of the drink using a spoon to drizzle it carefully so it creates a nice pattern. Then add a dollop of whipped cream on top if you’re feeling fancy.
Notes
Use whole milk only for the best texture. The caramel can burn quickly so remove from heat immediately once it reaches deep amber color. This tastes better the next day. You can substitute oat milk or almond milk for a dairy-free version.
