Caramel Apple Nachos with Toasted Peanuts and Chocolate Drizzle

  • Author: Saly
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

A fun, 5-step dessert that turns simple apples into a party treat. Perfect for kids to help assemble, this recipe combines crisp apples with warm caramel, toasted peanuts, and chocolate drizzle for a sweet, crunchy, and customizable fall ritual.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large crunchy apples (Honeycrisp or Fuji), cored and sliced into wedges
  • 1 cup (240ml) caramel dipping sauce
  • 1 cup (170g) semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup (60g) dry-roasted peanuts, toasted and roughly chopped
  • Flaky sea salt (optional)
  • Optional add-ins: Mini marshmallows, crushed pretzels, or sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Wash apples thoroughly. Core and slice into uniform wedges (about 1/2 inch thick). Place slices on a paper towel to absorb excess moisture.
  2. Heat a dry skillet over medium heat. Toast peanuts in a single layer for 2-3 minutes until fragrant and slightly darker. Remove, cool, and chop roughly.
  3. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Arrange apple slices in a single layer, ensuring they have space for toppings.
  4. Microwave caramel for 15-20 seconds and stir until it pours like honey. Drizzle caramel over the apple slices.
  5. While caramel is wet, sprinkle toasted peanuts over the apples. Melt chocolate chips in 20-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Transfer to a piping bag or Ziploc bag with the corner snipped and drizzle over the nachos. Sprinkle with sea salt if using.
  6. Let sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes to set, or refrigerate for 5 minutes.

Notes

Use crisp apples like Honeycrisp or Fuji; avoid Red Delicious as they become mealy. Ensure all equipment is completely dry when melting chocolate to prevent seizing. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Do not freeze as apples will become mushy.
