Blueberry Lemonade Iced Tea

  • Author: Saly
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Description

A refreshing and easy-to-make summer drink combining fresh blueberries, black tea, and lemonade for a bright, tangy, and perfectly chilled beverage.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries (150g)
  • 4 black tea bags
  • 2 medium fresh lemons (juice and zest)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar (100g) or ⅓ cup honey (113g), adjust to taste
  • 6 cups water (1.4 liters), divided
  • Ice cubes
  • Optional: fresh mint leaves
  • Optional: sliced lemons or blueberries for garnish
  • Optional: club soda for sparkling twist

Instructions

  1. Bring 4 cups (950ml) of water to a boil. Pour it over 4 black tea bags in a heatproof pitcher. Let steep for 5-7 minutes (6 minutes recommended). Remove tea bags gently without squeezing too hard.
  2. While tea steeps, combine 1 cup fresh blueberries, ½ cup sugar (or honey), and 1 cup water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally until sugar dissolves and blueberries burst, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from heat and strain syrup through a fine mesh strainer.
  3. Roll lemons on counter, zest one lemon, then juice both lemons to yield about ½ cup (120ml) lemon juice. Add lemon zest to the tea pitcher.
  4. Add blueberry syrup and lemon juice to the steeped tea. Stir well. Pour in 2 cups (475ml) cold water to dilute. Adjust sweetness or tartness as desired.
  5. Serve over ice cubes. Garnish with extra blueberries, lemon slices, or fresh mint leaves. Optionally, freeze blueberries inside ice cubes for a decorative touch.

Notes

Do not oversteep the tea to avoid bitterness. Homemade blueberry syrup is key for fresh flavor. Adjust sweetness at the end to taste. Fresh lemons provide better flavor than bottled juice. Prepare tea and syrup up to two days ahead and combine before serving.
