Bacon Wrapped Smokies with Brown Sugar Glaze

  • Author: Saly
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

These bacon wrapped smokies with a brown sugar glaze are a quick, easy, and crowd-pleasing appetizer featuring smoky, sweet, and crispy bites perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound Little Smokies (mini smoked sausages, beef or pork)
  • 12 slices regular sliced bacon (thin-cut preferred)
  • ½ cup light brown sugar (100g)
  • 2 tablespoons honey (30ml)
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (15ml)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) or set your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper and place a wire rack on top if available.
  2. Wrap each little smokie tightly with a half slice of bacon. Secure with a toothpick if needed.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using) to make the glaze.
  4. Brush or spoon the glaze over each bacon-wrapped smokie, coating them evenly.
  5. Place the smokies on the wire rack or directly on the baking sheet. Bake in the oven for about 15 minutes or air fry for 12 minutes, turning halfway through, until bacon is crispy and glaze is caramelized.
  6. Let the smokies cool for a couple of minutes before serving warm with toothpicks.

Notes

Use thin-cut bacon for best crispiness and easier wrapping. A wire rack helps bacon crisp evenly and prevents sogginess. Watch cooking time closely to avoid burning. Double the glaze for extra sticky bites. Can be made ahead by wrapping smokies and refrigerating before glazing and baking. Reheat in skillet or air fryer to maintain crispiness; avoid microwaving.
