Description
Quick, crispy, and sweet churro bites made in the air fryer, perfect for busy weeknights and using pantry staples with minimal cleanup.
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (120g)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (100g), divided
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (56g)
- 1/2 cup water (120ml)
- 1 large egg
- Vegetable oil spray
- Optional: 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Optional: powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Mix the flour, baking powder, salt, and 1/4 cup of granulated sugar combined with cinnamon in a medium bowl.
- Heat water and butter in a small saucepan until butter melts and mixture is warm but not boiling.
- Remove from heat and whisk in the egg and vanilla extract (if using) until smooth.
- Slowly pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until a thick, sticky dough forms. Adjust with flour or water if needed.
- Using a small cookie scoop or spoon, form dough balls about 1 inch in diameter and place on a plate or baking sheet.
- Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray churro bites with vegetable oil spray.
- Arrange bites in a single layer in the air fryer basket without touching. Cook for 4-5 minutes, flip with tongs, then cook another 4-5 minutes until golden and crispy.
- While warm, toss churro bites in the remaining 1/4 cup sugar mixed with 1 tablespoon cinnamon until evenly coated.
- Serve warm, optionally with hot chocolate, coffee, or dipping sauces.
